Chamber board candidates named (11/27/04)

The Portland Area Chamber of Commerce Nominating Committee has chosen five candidates to be considered for a three-year term as members of the group’s board of directors.
Mark S. Goodman of Pennville Custom Cabinetry, Jim Fennig of Wal-Mart, Derek Rodgers of First National Bank, Faron Parr of Progressive Office Products and Ryan Vannatter of Old National Bank were nominated for the three-year term. The term of office would run from Jan. 1, 2005 to Dec. 31, 2007.
Anyone who would like to nominate someone for the office may do so in writing through a petition signed by at least 10 chamber members.
If no other nominations are made by Dec. 2, the five candidates will be considered elected.

MEETING
The East Central Indiana Human Resource Association will have a membership meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 8 at the Delaware Country Club, South Country Club Road, Muncie.
Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., lunch will be served at noon and the program will be from 12:20 to 1:30 p.m.
The cost for guests is $13. Reservations should be made by Monday, Dec. 6 at noon by e-mailing [email protected].
AWARDED
A Muncie-based mental health facility was recently given a $66,346 grant by the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration.
The money awarded to Comprehensive Mental Health Services will be used by the center to help homeless Hoosiers with mental illness find health care, job training, education, housing, substance abuse services and support services in residential settings.
CMHS has a branch location at 931 W. Water St. in Portland.
NAMED
An Ohio woman has been named director of women’s studies and assistant professor of English at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.
Kelli Zaytoun, who was formerly the director of the Women’s Center at the college, will assume the new position in January.
STOCK
Marsh Supermarkets Inc. has declared its quarterly dividend.
As of Nov. 17, the company’s dividend was 13 cents per share on the outstanding Class A and Class B common stocks. The shares are payable Feb. 7, 2005, to shareholders of each class.
Marsh operates 30 LoBill Foods stores, including one in Portland.
