The East Jay Middle School wrestling team scored a 45-12 victory Thursday over visiting West Jay.
Seven of the victories for the host Chiefs came by way of pins, with Kaleb Toland (145), Andy Kohler (152) and Hunter Gillette (160) scoring consecutive wins. Other pins came from Logan Antrim (HWT), Levi Hummel (135), Matt Blackford (110) and Alex Abbott (100).
Graham Haines (105) added a victory by an 8-7 decision.
Jacob Geesaman (95) came up with the only first-period pin for West Jay, winning in just 40 seconds. Grant Alsip (125) added a pin in 2 minutes, 36 seconds.

SA tops Tigers

BLUFFTON — South Adams’ middle school wrestling team cruised to a 52-15 victory Thursday over the Bluffton Tigers.
David All led the Starfires, needing just 15 seconds to earn his victory with a pin. Other wins came from Kody Coates, Kadin Gerber, Matt Nussbaum, Chance Sprunger, Spencer Niece, Sawyer Miller, Boaz Marbach, Kody Coates, Ariel Williams, Gabe Schwartz, Brock Twitty and Mason Morningstar.

Jay fourth rolls
FORT WAYNE — The Jay County fourth grade AAU girls basketball team recently won the Kids Helping Kids Tournament at Spiece Fieldhouse.
Jay County racked up a 4-0 record to win the all-star division. The team has won 24 straight games.
Members of the squad are Avery West, Klarisa Hemmelgarn, Randi Ferguson, Samantha Twigg, Kilee Denney, Maggie Pryor, Hannah Phillips, Rhegan Shimp and Shelby Caldwell.[[In-content Ad]]
