UNION CITY — The unbeaten streak for the East Jay eighth grade girls wasn’t in much danger Monday night.

The Chiefs got 18 points from Lindsey Wellman, leading to a 39-16 victory over Union City Westside. The seventh grade squad also rolled to a 23-10 victory.

Wellman’s outscoring of the entire Union City squad helped lift East Jay’s eighth graders to a 7-0 record. Pazia Speed added 11 points for the Chiefs, who led 12-2 after the opening period and were never challenged.

Laura Castillo scored 10 points to match the whole Union City team in the seventh grade game. Erin Hunt added four points as the squad improved to 6-2.

Fort girls win pair

FORT RECOVERY — The New Knoxville Rangers couldn’t stop Fort Recovery Monday night.

The Indian middle school girls teams each improved to 5-2 with the eighth graders scoring a 34-20 win over New Knoxville and the seventh grade squad taking a 25-17 victory.

Nicole Pottkotter paced the eighth graders with eight points, and Josie Guggenbiller added six. Emily May, Chelsey Leuthold and Erika Muhlenkamp each had four points.

Nicole Dilworth was the top scorer for the seventh grade Indians with eight points. Olivia Thien had six points, and Lindsay Schroer scored five.

Cavs smack East Jay boys

East Jay couldn’t keep up with the visiting Coldwater Cavaliers Monday. The eighth grade boys team suffered a 61-28 defeat, and the seventh graders lost 48-38.

Drew Houck and Garrett Krieg each scored in double figures for East Jay’s seventh graders (2-6), finishing with 18 and 15 points respectively. Austin Mann added nine points.

Eric Homan scored 13 points as the eighth grade team dropped to 5-3.

Ben Walters was next with four points.

West Jay girls slip to .500

LYNN — West Jay’s eighth grade girls team dropped to 3-3 Monday with a 36-24 loss to the Randolph Southern Rebels.

Brittany Muhlenkamp and Kristen Selvey each had 10 points in the defeat.[[In-content Ad]]
