Chiefs split finale (10/23/2008)

MUNCIE - Both games were shutouts Tuesday, but only one went the Chiefs' way.

East Jay Middle School's eighth grade football team defeated the host Delta Eagles 8-0. The seventh graders lost, 24-0.

Cade Price ran for 69 yards on 10 carries for the eighth grade team, pushing his season total to 1,137 yards in just eight games. He averaged more than 13 yards per carry and scored 16 touchdowns.

Scott Schwieterman led the defensive shutout effort with five tackles, and Travis Slack had two tackles and a sack.

Ryan Claytor ran for 59 yards in the seventh grade game. He totaled 1,085 yards and 16 touchdowns this season.

Andrew Eley finished with four tackles for East Jay.

It was the final game of the season for both EJMS squads.

The eighth graders followed up their undefeated season in 2007 with a 9-1 mark this year.

The seventh grade team finished at 8-2.[[In-content Ad]]
