Clark named contest winner (03/29/06)
Taking Note
Mariah Clark, an eighth grader at East Jay Middle School, has been named a winner in an essay contest for young writers and sponsored by Creative Communication, inc.
Her essay was found worthy of publication and will appear in the anthology, “Creating What Is Important to Me.” She is also being considered for the “Top Ten Essay” award in which case she would be awarded prize money for her composition.
She is the daughter of Richard and Ramona Clark, Portland.
Workshop set
Arts Place, Inc. is presenting a workshop for individual artists entitled, Professional Documentation of Artwork on Tuesday, May 16, at 6 p.m.
The free workshop will take place at Mitchell Place Gallery, 301 S. Walnut St., Muncie.

Bloomfield Elementary School staff members have named the March winners for its Win With Life Skills.
Winners for “effort” are Remington Arnold, Andrea Bruggeman, Jennifer Braun, Aaron Caston, Sarah Hilty, Tamesha Hutchens, Marah Kinder, Nicholas Leuthold, Lyla Muhlenkamp, Michael Rodriguez, Casey Shannon, Kristina Stoner, Jessica Vaughn, and Mitchell Wellman.

The U.S. Achievement Academy has announced that Jessica Carducci, Portland, has been named a national award winner in English.
The academy recognizes fewer than 10 percent of all American school students.
Jessica, who attends East Jay Middle School, was nominated for this award by Deborah Kilander, a teacher at the school.
She will now appear in the academy’s official yearbook, which is published nationally.
She is the daughter of Rich and Carolyn Carducci, Portland.
New officers
The Jay County 4-H Cat Club met recently and elected officers for 2006.
Named president was Emily Franks; vice-president, Lindzy Upp; secretary, Andrea Collins; treasurer, Shauna Manor; historian, Zachary Bell; reporter, Jessica Bullock; music leader, Keegan Heath; recreation leader, Christina Williamson; and health and safety leader, Mikel Miller.
The next meeting will be Thursday, April 20, at 6 p.m. at the 4-h building.[[In-content Ad]]
