FORT RECOVERY — The Indians were hoping for a chance at their first conference win of the year, but Coldwater took control from the start.
The Fort Recovery High School softball team fell behind early Friday and suffered an 11-1, five-inning loss to the visiting Cavaliers.
Coldwater scored four times in the first inning and led throughout. It added two runs in the third inning, three in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Ashley Homan took the loss as she allowed 11 runs — five earned — on nine hits and three walks.
Haley Knapke, Janelle Schwieterman, Jackie Fullenkamp and Chelsea Timmerman each had one hit for Fort Recovery, which scored its lone run in the fourth inning.

DAYTON, Ohio — Fort Recovery struggled to get any offense going Friday night in a 10-0, five-inning loss in non-conference action to the Division IV No. 5 St. Henry Redskins at Fifth Third Field.
St. Henry took the lead with three runs in the top of the first inning. It added at least one run in every inning while limiting the Indians (11-9) to just two hits.
Kent Retz suffered the loss, but six of the eight runs against him were unearned as Fort Recovery committed four errors. He allowed six hits and a walk while striking out one batter in 3 1/3 innings.

Blake Boughman and Gabe Riegle had one hit apiece for the Tribe.

JH track fourth
COLDWATER, Ohio — The Fort Recovery Middle School girls track team scored 44.5 points Friday to place fourth at the eight-team Cavalier Relays hosted by Coldwater. The boys team finished seventh.
Minster won the girls competition, and the host Cavaliers were first in the boys.
Fort Recovery’s lone victory of the night came in the throwers 4x100-meter relay. Jocelyn Kaiser, Taylor Grisez, Carissa Evers and Briana Eisenhut posted a first-place time of 1 minute, 2.11 seconds.
The Indian girls also placed second in the 4x100 shuttle hurdles, with Brittany Jutte, Abby Wenning, Alyssa Post and Lauren Gehle finishing in 1:17.88.
Andrew Stocker paced the Fort Recovery boys team with a runner-up finish in the shot put. He turned in a toss of 36 feet, 6 inches.
Will Davis, Anthony Merril, Caleb Martin and Travis Sutter added a third-place finish in the 1,600 sprint medley in 4:45.38.
Fourth-place finishes came from Emily May, Lexi Sheffer, Jutte and Gehle in the 4x100 relay, Angela Heitkamp, Jill Roessner, Paige Hemmert and Grace Gehle in the 4x200 relay and Carley Stone, Heitkamp, Roessner and Grace Gehle in the 4x400 relay.[[In-content Ad]]
