Taking Note
High School juniors and seniors wanting a head start on their college careers may participate in the 2005 Summer Scholars Program through Wright State University.
The program is open to high school student who will be juniors or seniors during the 2005-06 school year.
Students must have a grade point average of 3.25 or better and rank in the top quarter of their class, have a recommendation from their high school counselor, approval from his and her parent and guardian and be an Ohio resident.
Students may choose from a list of approved college courses in biology, chemistry, communications, computer science, economics, English, French, math and others. Classes are available at Wright State’ Main campus in Dayton, Ohio and Lake Campus in Celina, Ohio.
Students may take up to eight credit hours and partial tuition waivers are available.
Applications are processed on a first come, first served basis. The deadline to apply for classes in Monday, April 4.

DEAN’S LIST
Nathan F. Jetter, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Jetter of Portland, was named to the dean’s list at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va.
He is a sophomore at the university.
HABITAT OFFICERS
Jay County Habitat for Humanity Inc. recently elected officers for 2005. Jeb Bubp was reelected as president of the group. Also, Fred DeHoff was named vice president, Rose Snow, secretary and Fred Bailey was elected treasurer.
Committee chairpersons were also named. Vic May is in charge of the building committee, Dean Inman was named the head of the finance committee, Paul and Helen Inman will head the nurture committee and Brad Burkett was named chairperson of the legal committee.
SUPPORT GROUPS
Caregivers who need support and grandparents who are involved in the care of their grandchildren are invited to attend support groups organized through the CareGiver program at LifeStream Services Inc.
The Grandparents Connections will meet in Portland on Thursday Feb. 8 at 11 a.m.
The group will meet at the Jay County Public Library in Portland.
