Saint Gobain Containers Inc. was cited by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management in late March for air quality violations that occurred in 2011.
The IDEM violation notice indicated that the company, which operates a plant in Dunkirk under the name Verallia, failed to meet standards of less than 1 pound of filterable particulate matter per ton of glass produced. Emissions from Furnace No. 1 were 1.15 pounds per ton during a test on April 1, 2011.
The IDEM citations asked the company to enter into an agreed order to address the issues within 60 days of the issue date of March 28.
New nurse
State of the Heart Hospice has hired Jennifer Tarter as a new primary care nurse for the Portland location.
Tarter, a registered nurse, has worked as an oncology nurse for the past two and half years at Reid Hospital in Richmond.
Tarter resides in rural Winchester with her husband Matt and two sons.
She is a former reporter with The Commercial Review.
Fined
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management issued a $28,000 fine against POET Biorefining for violations at its Alexandria plant.
The company was cited for air pollution violations and included reporting violations in 2010 and 2011.
Of the fine, $5,640 will be paid toward the state environmental management fund with the remaining going to fund a Brownfield remediation project in Alexandria.

The East Central Indiana Builders Association will meet Tuesday.
The networking luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Kacy J’s Restaurant at the Delaware County Airport.
Peggy Cenova, regional direction of the East Central Indiana Small Business Development Center, will give a presentation.

Tyson Foods Inc. was recently ranked on the 100 Best Corporate Citizens listing in Corporate Responsibility magazine.
Tyson was ranked 90th on the 13th annual listing, which ranks groups on seven factors including internal matters and philanthropy.
Tyson has engaged in a national fight against hunger and has donated more than 86 million pounds of food to hunger initiatives in the past 11 years.
New location
An electronics recycling company has a new location in Portland.
3D Recycling, also known as Waste-Not Recycling, had moved from a rural Portland location to a new shop near Matt’s Garage on West Union Street.
The business is owned by Craig Weaver, who has partnered with Chris Imel and Don Cooke.
Networking luncheon
The Jay County Chamber of Commerce will hold its next networking luncheon April 24.
Jay County Prosecutor Wes Schemenaur will be the speaker, presenting “What You Need to Know About Synthetic Drugs.” The luncheon starts at noon at Jay County Hospital.

Hilty graduated from Indiana Institute of Technology with a degree in accounting in 1998 and began working with First Bank of Berne that May. He is a member of the Indiana CPA Society and Financial Management Committee of the Indiana Bankers Association.
He serves as treasurer for the Berne Chamber of Commerce and was past treasurer of the Swiss Heritage Society.

Edward Jones was ranked highest for Employee Adviser Satisfaction among financial investment firms in a recent J.D. Power and Associates study.
Edward Jones has placed at the top in each of the four studies conducted by J.D. Power and Associates, achieving top honors in 2007, 2008 and 2010.
The study ranks firms on a variety of factors including performance and technology. Edward Jones showed a 25-point improvement from the last study conducted in 2010.
Good ‘Til
Marsh Supermarkets announced that shoppers have saved more than $12.5 million through the grocer’s Good ‘Til pricing program.
The program, which is offered four times per year, assures shoppers that grocery items will not increase in price for at least three months for items including meat, produce, deli items, bakery items, seafood, dairy and frozen foods.
The supermarket chainm which operates 70 Marsh, 27 MainStreet Market and three O’Malia’s locations in Indiana and Ohio, is offering the Good ‘Til program now through July 4.

Ivy Tech is hosting a seminar in Fort Wayne Wednesday as part of an ongoing spring speaker series
David Mao will present Expanding Your Global Market — Doing Business in China at 3 p.m. at Ivy Tech’s Coliseum Campus Auditorium, 3800 N. Anthony Blvd., Fort Wayne.

CenturyLink is celebrating the fifth annual National Safe Digging Month this month.
Residents are reminded to call the 811 utility location service a few days prior to any digging work on a property to ensure proper location of underground utility lines.
CenturyLink notes that some utility lines may only be a few inches underground, so using 811 is encouraged for any project.
