Concerts continue at park

The free concert series, sponsored by the Dunkirk Beautification Committee,  continues Saturday at Webster-Depot Park in Dunkirk.
Servants of Christ will perform at 7 p.m. Concessions will be available.

Library news    
An Introduction to Genealogy class will be Saturday, Aug. 2, at Jay County Public Library. Basic Research will be taught from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and Using Ancestry.com will be from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Call the library at (260) 726-7890 to register.
Beginner’s Internet: Senior Style will be held Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. until noon at JCPL. The class is for those 55 and older to learn to use a mouse, navigate a webpage and surf the web. Call the library to register.
The annual “get acquainted with riding the school bus” program is tentatively scheduled for Monday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m. Children entering kindergarten, along with a parent, may ride a school bus from Jay County Public Library to Bloomfield Elementary and spend time in a kindergarten classroom. Lugar series
Applications are available for the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series.
The series provides leadership training for Republican women who have demonstrated leadership skills in their work or community service.

Graduates
Area students graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute.
Jacob Schmidt received a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and computer science. He is the son of Gary and Diane Schmidt, Portland.
Clayton Eley received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He is the son of Todd Eley and Paula Miller, both of Portland.

Museum news
The 10th annual Jay County Heritage Festival is scheduled for Oct. 6 and 7 at the Jay County Historical Museum. The theme is “Jay Countians Go to War — Honoring Those Who Served Our Country.”
The festival will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, the 60th anniversary of the Korean War, the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War and the history of World War I and World War II. Anyone willing to donate memorabilia may  call  (260) 726-7168.
