Concerts to begin in Dunkirk

Taking Note

The Dunkirk Beautification Committee will once again sponsor free concerts this summer at Webster-Depot Park in Dunkirk.
The series will begin with a special afternoon performance of Chelsea House Orchestra on Saturday, June 9, at 2:30 p.m. Jerry Jones will perform that same day at 7 p.m.
Other performers will be Boot Hill Band on June 16; Mix Factory on June 23; Jay County Community Band with clowns Buttnz and Bowz on June 30; The Classics on July 7; Jay Fox on July 14; Servants of Christ on July 21; Jason Beeson — Pray for Mojo on July 28; Renisance on Aug. 4; Dan’s Memory Lane on Aug. 11 and Spittin’ Image on Aug. 18. Concerts will begin at 7 p.m.

Graduates
Lee Miles Haggenjos, a 2008 graduate of Jay County High School, graduated magna cum laude on May 20 from the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor of arts in music performance/ALPP. He is the son of Dr. Mark and Donna Haggenjos, Portland.

He also received the Dr. Robert Joseph Barnet Award, which is awarded to the outstanding Arts and Letters Preprofessional senior who demonstrates excellent character and superior academic achievement across the arts and sciences.
Katie Alberson and Amanda Johnson, both of Portland, graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion on April 28.
Katie received an M.B.A. in accounting and Amanda received a bachelor’s degree in media communications.
Luke McClung, Portland, graduated from Anderson University on May 5.
Sharon Dirksen graduated from Bluffton (Ohio) University on May 5 with a degree in accounting and business administration. She is the daughter of Lester and Velma Dirksen, Portland.
