Back in business
A Berne implement company re-opened its doors this week, eight days after a devastating fire.
Greg Milholland, owner of Affolder Implement, told The Democrat (Decatur) that “we’re as full-go as much as we can be. We lost our parts department, but we can order parts.”
Two-thirds of the business was damaged in the fire, but the sales office and computer was spared.
The company was formed in 1930 and has been owned by Milholland since 1976.
Sessions set
Area state legislators will be on hand for two upcoming sessions in Portland sponsored by the Jay County Chamber of Commerce.
State Rep. Bill Davis (R-Portland) and State Sen. Travis Holdman (R-Markle) will appear at a “Third House” session Saturday, Jan. 21 at John Jay Center, 101 S. Meridian St., Portland.
The two will share information and take public input during the session, which will begin at 10 a.m.
The chamber will also host its monthly Networking Breakfast Wednesday at the Elks Lodge in Dunkirk beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Speakers will include new Dunkirk Mayor Dan Watson and a Jay County Commissioner.
