Cooking class set at JCPL (02/27/2009)
Taking Note
Kristi Henry, Purdue Extension Educator in Jay County, will teach the class "Semi-Homemade Cookery" on Thursday, March 5, at 2 p.m. at Jay County Public Library.
Semi-homemade is a base of convenience combined with each individual's added touch making dishes almost homemade.
To register, call the Extension Office at (260) 726-4707 by March 3.
The class is sponsored by Jay County Purdue Cooperative Extension Service and Jay County Extension Homemakers.
Fort Kindergarten
An informational meeting for parents of children entering kindergarten in the fall will be held Monday, March 9, at 7 p.m. in the Fort Recovery Elementary/Middle School Auditeria.
Parents may register their children for the screening to take place on March 31 and April 1.
Children who have not attended Fort Recovery Pre-School need their social security card, birth certificate and immunization record.
Scholarship
A $500 Jay County Extension Homemaker Scholarship is available for seniors in Jay County who wants to further their education in Family and Consumer Sciences and related areas such as foods and nutrition, dietetics, restaurant management, child development and care, family studies and human development, fashion merchandising and clothing design, family economics and consumer education and housing or environmental design.
Applications are available at the Jay County High School guidance office. Applications are due at the guidance office or the Jay County Extension Office by March 13.

State Farm Youth Advisory Board is seeking associate board members to serve through 2010.
Youth advisory board members will receive a $3,000 scholarship to be used at a two-year or four-year vocational training program. Board members who serve a second year will receive a $5,000 scholarship.

The application deadline to join the Youth Advisory Board is March 31.

The Wells County Child Protection Team and the Department of Child Services, Wells County Foundation and Wells County United Way will present the program "Parents Beware, What the Child Molester Does Not Want You To Know."
The program, presented by Sgt. Terry Hall, will be held Monday, March 9, at 7 p.m. at Lancaster Elementary School, 275 E. Jackson St. in Bluffton.
Hall will inform parents about indicators of abuse, myths, how to talk to your child about sexual abuse and what to do is you suspect sexual molestation.
Admission is free and daycare will be provided.
Hunting Banquet
Randolph County's Cabin Creek Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will hold its sixth annual Hunting Heritage Banquet on Saturday at the Winchester Moose Lodge at 6 p.m. Dinner will be at 7 p.m.
