Former Jay County residents Mr. and Mrs. Melvin A. Rees, Eaton, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 26 with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. at the MCL Cafeteria banquet room in the Muncie Mall.
Melvin married Martha E. Shultz on July 27, 1946, at the home of the bride's parents in Redkey. The Rev. Orlo D. Vandlen received their vows.
Both Jay County natives, the couple moved to Delaware County in 1947.
Martha graduated from Redkey High School in 1946 and retired from Holiday Inn in Muncie in 1973, after 14 years of service.
Melvin served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad in 1987, after 42 years.
They are the parents of Rick Rees, Vincennes, and Larry Rees, Eaton. They have three grandchildren and five great-granddaughters.
