ANDERSON - Lindsey Current turned in the top finish for the Jay County girls track team as it hosted an indoor meet Saturday at Anderson University.
Current, a sophomore, tied for sixth place in the high jump at the Patriot Invitational. She was one of five competitors to clear the bar at 4 feet, 10 inches.
No other Jay County athlete finished in the top 10. Junior Sara Mescher was 25th in the 55-meter dash in 8.11 seconds, and freshman Kari Hemmelgarn finished 26th in the 55 hurdles in 10.82.
The top relay finish for the Patriots came in the 4x800 relay where Hemmelgarn, Amanda Johnson, Jessica Mosier and Michelle Dirksen crossed the line in 11-minutes, 26.1 seconds for 15th place.
Garringer takes first
Kyle Garringer of the Patriot Wrestling Club took first place recently in the Indiana State Wrestling Association state folkstyle tournament.
Garringer finished with a perfect 4-0 record, including a 6-4 overtime win in his final match. He scored two of his other three victories with pins, and took the other by a 6-0 decision.[[In-content Ad]]
