The first half was good. The second half wasn’t the same.
East Jay’s seventh grade football team took an 8-0 lead into halftime against Delta Wednesday, but came away with a 22-8 loss to the Eagles.
Lance Franklin turned in a big play in the second quarter, getting the lone touchdown for the Chiefs (5-3) on an 80-yard run.
Billy Wellman ran in for the 2-point conversion.
But, Delta tied the game in the third quarter and scored 14 points in the fourth for the final margin.
Fort shooters
The Fort Recovery Gun Club’s Fall Trap League completed action recently, with Ken Schlater taking first place overall. He won the league by breaking 277 of 300 targets.
The team title went to Gary Reinhart, Dave Knapke, Ted Stammen, Tom Bailey and Joe Schwieterman.
Individual high scorers on each squad were Reinhart, Craig Buschor, Joe Harlamert, Ken Hill, John Backs, Jon Smith, Mike Knapschaffer, Brian Bailey, Roger Rose, Brian Evers, Curt Long, Mike Rockwood, Matt Wenning, Bob Green, Paul Yoder and Gene Fortkamp.
