Director of Red Cross to be honored (09/12/06)

Gina Godsey Bradburn, executive director of the Hoosier Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross is leaving her position, and there will be an open house in her honor on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the chapter headquarters, 325 E. Washington St., Muncie.
Teen dance
The Geneva Youth Council will host a teen dance on Friday at 7 p.m. in the upstairs ballroom of the Geneva Public Library. Tickets are $1 and proceeds will fund Youth Council activities.
First Aid class
The American Red Cross will hold a Community First Aid and CPR class on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Portland Fire Department, 1616 N. Franklin Street, Portland.

Pumpkin Fest
The Sue Myers farm, 807 West 500 North, Portland, will host a pumpkin fest on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There will be a petting zoo, wagon rides, trappers camp and more. Admission is free.
To reach the Myers farm, go five miles north of Portland on Ind. 27 and then turn west on 500 North and go one mile. The phone number is (260) 726-2093.
The pumpkin fest will also be held on Sept. 23 and 24.
Alzheimer's group
Jay County Hospital will offer a program on Alzheimer's disease on Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 6 until 8:30 p.m. "Beginning to Cope" is designed for people who want to know more about Alzheimer's disease and its progression. Utilization of community resources and legal and financial considerations will also be discussed.

Ag outlook
Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service will offer the program Agriculture Outlook on Wednesday, Sept. 20, from 7:30 until 9:30 a.m. in the small meeting room of the Jay County 4-H building.
Chris Hurt, from Purdue University, will be the guest speaker and there will be a free breakfast of eggs, ham, rolls and coffee.
