Discussion groups set (09/10/2008)

Taking Note

Anyone who is reading "Icy Sparks" by Gwyn Hyman Rubio is invited to three discussion groups to be held at Jay County Public Library.

The first group will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 2:30 p.m., the second will meet Thursday, Sept. 25, at 10:30 a.m. and the third will meet Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 6:30 p.m.

Also an informational program entitle "What is Tourette Syndrome" will be Monday, Sept. 29, at 6:30 p.m. at the library. Mark Tweedy, the leader of the East Centrall Tourette Syndrome Support Group, will discuss the impact that Tourette Syndrome can have on adults and children.

Grief classes

State of the Heart will begin Fall Grief Education Classes on Tuesday, Sept. 23. The classes will meet for six Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the hospice office, 410 W. Votaw St. in Portland.

The group is for anyone mourning the death of a loved one, recently or in the past.

Homework help

The Rose-Hulman Homework Hotline is available for students in sixth through 12th grade needing help in math and science.

Students may call the homework hotline toll free at (877) ASK-ROSE or (877) 275-7673, Sunday through Thursday from 7 to 10 p.m. through May 21, 2009.
