District exec faces charges
Business Roundup
The former associate director of a defunct eastern Indiana economic development group faces sentencing on three felony theft charges after being accused of embezzling more than $150,000.
A Henry County judge is scheduled to consider accepting the guilty pleas from 34-year-old Troy Collier of Muncie during a July 25 court hearing. Collier entered the plea agreement with prosecutors on Friday.
Collier was arrested in 2011 on charges he stole money from the New Castle-based Eastern Indiana Development District to buy computer equipment, a home theater system, a 55-inch television and a stove.
The district included Henry, Randolph, Wayne Union and Rush counties and disbanded in December.
Henry County Council president Nate LaMar told The Courier-Times of New Castle that he’s glad the case is coming to a close after so much time.
Jay County was never a part of the troubled economic development district.
