Dodd is CR's new production manager (09/15/07)

Brian Dodd, a pressman at The Commercial Review since 1996, has been named the newspaper's production manager.
He succeeds Dave Marchand, who has taken early retirement and relocated to Brown County.
A resident of Daleville, Dodd is a graduate of Monroe Central High School and the two-year printing program of the Muncie Area Career Center. His printing career includes stints with Heritage Press, Greenfield, and the Ball Corporation in Muncie. He and his wife, Candy, have two children.
JRDS Director
Jay-Randolph Developmental Services has hired Portland resident Teresa Bowen as director of development for the organization. While at JRDS she will be in charge of grant writing, fundraising and marketing.
Bowen has a strong background in Jay and Randolph counties.
She has served as director of Head Start and has belonged to several social services committees in both counties.
She holds bachelor's degrees in sociology and speech communication from the University of West Virginia.
She also has obtained a master's degree in applied communication theory and methodology from Cleveland State University.
Bank raises money
The First Bank of Berne is helping to raise funds for patients at Riley Hospital for Children. All offices of the bank are participating. Money raised will benefit the Riley Children's Foundation.
The bank is taking part in the Coins for Kids campaign. Paper coins will be sold at each First Bank of Berne location for $1 each. Purchasers can write their name or the one of someone they'd like to honor and it will be displayed with others in the lobby of the bank. The project is coordinated by the Indiana Association of Bankers.
First Bank of Berne locations include Portland, Berne, Decatur, Bluffton and Van Wert, Ohio.
Guest speaker
Claire Lee will be the featured speaker at the Sept. 19 meeting of The American Society for Quality, East Central Indiana 904.
The focus of the evening will be quality of health care.
Lee has more than 40 years of experience in the health care industry.
The event, which is open to the public, is a 6 p.m. business meeting. It will be held at the Sirloin Stockade 4949 W. Hessler Road, Muncie. Attendees should pay the cashier upon entering the restaurant.
Receives grant
Energize-ECI has received a $50,000 grant from the Ball Brothers Foundation, the organization's executive director said.
According to a news release from Energize-ECI, the money will be used to develop educational programs to educate sight consultants.
