'Dogs defeat JC
JCHS boys soccer
CENTERVILLE — A late rally pulled the Jay County High School boys soccer team even. But the tie game was short-lived as the Patriots dropped a 3-2 decision Saturday to the Centerville Bulldogs.
JCHS (3-8) scored twice in less than a minute during the second half Saturday to erase a 2-0 halftime deficit and tie the game. But it took Centerville less than two minutes to break the deadlock, scoring the game-winning goal with 4:58 to play.
Alex Dunn scored the first Patriot goal with 7:48 left in the game on an assist from Aldo Castro. And then Castro tied the score as he connected with 6:27 on the clock after a Dylan Swingley corner kick.
Dunn, Castro and Colton Bartlett each took two shots on goal for Jay County.
Dillon Ainsworth had four saves, and Austin Cowan finished with one.
The junior varsity game finished in a 1-1 tie with Zane Shreve scoring the lone goal for the Patriots.

CENTERVILLE — The Patriots gave up two goals in each half Saturday in a 4-1 loss to the Centerville Bulldogs.
Centerville grabbed a 2-0 lead with goals at the 12:46 and 11:12 marks of the opening half.
Jay County pulled within a goal with just 57 seconds left in the first half when Sammi Compton converted a shot to the right corner off of a crossing pass from Mallory Poole. The tally broke a four-game scoreless streak for the Patriots.
However, JCHS could not pull even and the Bulldogs pulled away with their pair of second-half goals.
Compton took two shots on goal in the game, and Lindsay Moser, Nikka Chaney, LeAnn Horn and Alex Loy each added one. Mollie May finished with 10 saves.
Hemmelgarn, Ninde score 2
Evan Hemmelgarn and Carl Ninde turned in the top performances Saturday during Jay County Pee Wee Football action.
Hemmelgarn scored a pair of touchdowns in leading the Bengals to a 22-0 win over the Hawks, and Ninde scored twice to lift the Bears to a 15-8 victory over the Cowboys.
Parker Grimes scored the lone touchdown for his Colts in an 8-6 win over the Dolphins. Two other games ended in shutouts with Jacob Geesaman, Cole Stigleman and Caleb Kunkle converting TDs to power the Giants to a 20-0 win over the Falcons, and Brandt Pearson turning in the lone score in the Chiefs’ 8-0 victory over the Vikings.[[In-content Ad]]
