Don't miss the bus
Taking Note
The program ‘Don’t Miss the Bus’ will be held Monday for children entering kindergarten in Jay County Schools that will ride a bus.
Children, along with a parent or caregiver, will board a school bus at 10 a.m. at Jay County Public Library, 315 N. Ship St. in Portland. They will travel to Bloomfield Elementary School and visit Mrs. Gregg’s classroom at the school. Children will listen to stories and play on the playground.

A program on Eco-Safe Cleaners will be held Thursday, Aug. 8, at 3 p.m. at the library. Learn how to read product labels and make nontoxic, environmentally safe cleaners. Molly Hunt from Purdue Extension will teach the program.
Senior Reads, for those 55 and older, will discuss the book “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 10 a.m. at the library.
The book club will discuss the book “The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry” by Rachel Joyce on Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. at the library. The book is about a passive retiree who walks across England to save his friend.
Scholarships
The National Center for Great Lakes Native Amerian Culture classes will be held Saturday through Monday in the Women’s Building at Jay County Fairgrounds.

Concert
Reminisce will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at Webster Depot Park in Dunkirk. Refreshments will be available.
Graduates
Roxana S. Pavel, Redkey, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison during spring commencement ceremonies. She earned a doctorate of musical arts, music performance.
