Drawing contest winners announced (06/26/07)

Taking Note

These Jay County elementary students were named the winners of the Headwater Heritage Inc. 2007 draw your favorite historic building contest.

At Bloomfield Elementary, first place went to Jessica Kerrigan, second to Conner Campbell and third place to Michelle Wellman.

Mitchell Bruggeman placed first at East Elementary. Darcy Parker placed second and Nick Clemens was third.

At General Shanks Elementary, Caitlyn Fields placed first, Cody Davis placed second and Sophie Bader was third.

Haley Stone placed first at Judge Haynes Elementary. Emilia Minnich was second and Kyra Braun placed third.

At Pennville Elementary, Emily Jobe placed first, Dillan Berry was second and Cheyenne Wentz was third.

Morgan Brown won first place at Redkey Elementary and Ellie Moore Snyder placed first at Westlawn Elementary.

Receives scholarships

Kelli Budde, Portland, received the Servant Leadership Scholarship at Ball State University.

The Servant Leadership Scholarship is awarded to a student who displays a significant and sustained service involvement with a nonprofit organization or charity. The total is $1,250, with $625 designated to the charity.

Budde is a senior majoring in special and elementary education.

April Coleman has won the hhgregg/Carl Asaro 9/11 Scholarship for $500. The scholarship is given in honor of New York City firefighter Carl Asaro killed in the collapse of World Trade Center 2 and is given to children of Indiana firefighters, police officers, paramedics and dispatchers.

April is a 2007 graduate of Jay County High School and the daughter of Perry and Laura Coleman.



Dean's list

Jill Elizabeth Roughia, a graduate of Jay County High School, has been named to the dean's list at Huntington University for the spring term of 2007. She is majoring in history education.

Jill is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jon David Roughia, Bryant.

Drew Lloyd was recently named to the dean's list at Indiana University School of Education in Indianapolis for the spring of 2007. He also made the list for the fall of 2006.

Drew is a graduate of Jay County High School and the son of Joe and Kim Lloyd, Redkey.

Jaime Comstock made the dean's list at Ball State University for the spring semester of 2007.

Graduates

Alison Muhlenkamp graduated number one in her class from Indiana Tech's College of Business with degrees in accounting and business administration-management.

She is a 2003 graduate of Jay County High School, where she was the recipient of an Eli Lilly Scholarship.[[In-content Ad]]
