Dunkirk Elks collecting coats (11/18/05)

The Dunkirk Elks Lodge No. 1776 is collecting winter coats and jackets for children in need. Sizes from 12 months to adult are needed.
Coats need to be dropped off at the Elks Lodge on S. Main St. in Dunkirk between 2 and 9 p.m. by Sunday, Nov. 20. Coats will be distributed to the Youth Services Bureau, Pregnancy Care Center, Homeless Shelter and schools in Jay County.
Thanksgiving program
The Dunkirk Public Library will have a Thanksgiving theme program on Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 3 p.m. There will be story telling and crafts and children preschool through sixth grade are welcome. Preschool must be accompanied by an adult.
Carb craze
A program Low Carbohydrate Craze “Good vs. Bad Carbs” will be held Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Jay County Public Library at 1 p.m. It will be presented by Consumer and Family Science Educator of Purdue Cooperative Extension in Delaware County, Annette Pairsh.
Balanced nutrition, regular exercise and patience will be discussed. Reservations need to be made by Nov. 23 by calling (260) 726-4707.

The Teen Advisory Board will meet Tuesday, Nov. 22, from 7 to 7:30 p.m. at Jay County Public Library. Teens in grades six through 12 are welcome.
