Dunkirk starting softball league (03/31/05)

There will be a meeting today to discuss the formation of an adult co-ed softball league in Dunkirk.

The meeting, which will begin at 6:30 p.m., will be at the West Jay Community Center. Plans for the 17-and-older league are to play games mostly on Sundays in June and July.

All those interested in playing or entering a team should attend.

Lifeguarding class

Jay County High School will host a two-week lifeguarding course beginning next week at the JCHS pool.

The first session will be Monday at 6 p.m. Anyone 15-or-older is eligible to attend, and the cost is $125.

Those who plan to attend are asked to call Barry Weaver or Bev Arnold at (260) 726-9306 to register.

PJL draft moved

Portland Junior League has changed its draft day to Saturday, April 9.

Drafting will begin at 9 a.m. with the Sandy Koufax league. Willie Mays will follow at 10 a.m., with Pee Wee Reese at 11 a.m. The Minor League softball draft will be at 2 p.m., followed by the major league at 3 p.m.
