Dunn wins essay contest (03/17/2009)
Takning Note
Alex Dunn, a student at East Jay Middle School, was the winner of the Optimist Essay Contest. He is a student in Deborah Kilander's class.
His essay was submitted to the District Essay Contest.
Cory Piercy from Judge Haynes won second place and Andrea Bruggeman from East Jay won third place.
Game night
The Pennville Library will have a game night on Friday for fourth and fifth grade students from 6 to 8 p.m. For more information, call the library at (260) 731-3333.
Cooking program
Linda Heitkamp of the Purdue Extension Office will show how to stretch your dollars at a cooking demonstration on April 8 from noon until 1 p.m.
The program will be held at Community and Family Services at 521 S. Wayne St. in Portland. For more information, call Linda at (260) 726-9318.
FFA Banquet
The Jay County FFA Chapter will hold its annual Parent-Member Banquet on April 3 at 6:30 p.m.
A pork chop dinner will be served and there will be a student auction.
Spring seminar
Indiana Farm Bureau District IV Spring Family Seminar will be held April 14 at Lehman Park Pavillion, 212 Park Ave. in Berne.
