Durhams mark 70th (6/25/05)
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Durham, Portland, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Sunday with a family dinner at White Linen Hall in Portland.
Philip married Gretchen Barngrover on June 26, 1935, at the Church of Christ in Bethel, Ohio, by Pastor Don McMillan.
Mr. Durham was ordained into the Christian ministry in 1936 and the couple served churches in Washington, Kentucky, Ohio, Colorado, Iowa, California, Florida and England. He was also an Army Chaplain during World War II.
They have been Portland residents since 1992 and are members of the West Walnut Street Church of Christ.
The couple has three sons, Rogers Durham, Portland; David Durham, Tillamook, Ore.; and Chuck Durham, Long Beach, Calif. They also have seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
