East Jay remains perfect with two wins (06/26/04)

East Jay’s baseball team boosted its record to 18-0 this week with a pair of convincing wins over Cowan and Randolph Southern.
East Jay will take its perfect record on the road today when it plays to Muncie Central in a doubleheader at 10 a.m.
East Jay started the week with a 10-1 win over Randolph Southern thanks to a strong pitching performance by Billy Wellman who struck out 9 of 18 batters and only gave up two hits.
Michael Jobe had a triple and a double, while Adam Garringer had a pair of singles and Wellman aided his own cause with a pair of hits, including a double.
Also chalking up singles were Justin Mann, Kyle Williams, Trey Dunn, Phillip Powell, Dalton McGill, Nate Wood, and Colton Lombardo.
On Wednesday, East Jay topped Cowan 12-2. Mann was the winning pitcher, striking out 5 of 19 while giving up two hits and two runs.
Jobe had a triple, a double, and two singles.
Firecracker 5K
The annual Firecracker 5K Run is set for Sunday, July 4, in Ansonia, Ohio.
It will start at 9 a.m. (Ohio time).
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at Ansonia High School, Ohio 47 East. More than 80 awards will be presented in 13 male and female age dvisions.
Pre-registration is $10 with a T-shirt and $6 without. Day of race registration is $12 with a T-shirt and $8 without.
