FORT RECOVERY — After suffering its only loss of the season to Jay County on Monday, the Fort Recovery Eels summer swim team rebounded with a commanding win Thursday over Greenville and Arcanum.
The Eels (5-1) took first in 15 of 20 relays and 36 of the 60 individual races to score 711 points in the season finale. Greenville was second with 269 points and Arcanum finished third with 264.
Winning three events for the Eels were Teigan Fortkamp, Kyra Clark, Aiden Elsass, Alexis Bubp and Mackinley Timmerman.
Sage Wendel, Cassidy Martin, Isaac Merrill and Nolan Thobe won two events each.
Owen Sheridan, Ellie Will, Grace Klingshirn, Noah Homan, Ava Bubp, Regan Martin, Brynn Stammen, Megan Abels, Shelby Stammen, Logan Ramirez, Sophie Timmerman, Makena Ellenberger and Gavin Thobe all picked up single victories.
Mitchel Homan, the lone 2014 FRHS graduate on the squad, also picked up a victory in his final swim meet.
Ferguson leads
Lexie Ferguson smacked two hits and scored twice to lead Frontline Construction to a 12-9 win Thursday over Crossroads Financial Federal Credit Union in the Minor softball division of Portland Junior League.
Aubrie Schwieterman and Olivia Bright both hit doubles and scored twice for Frontline. Trisia Ison and Kassidy Fennig added one hit and two runs apiece.
Britney Mullins led the way for Crossroads, tallying three hits and scoring once. Emily Chenoweth and Mariah Gross both had a pair of hits, and Lita Chowning and Abby Gillum each notched one hit and one run.[[In-content Ad]]
