EJMS 8th finishes undefeated (02/03/2009)

The East Jay Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team completed their undefeated season Monday, trouncing the Muncie Northside Rebels 41-18.
The seventh grade Chiefs lost 34-27 to finish at 10-3.
Gabi Cross scored 11 points to lead the EJMS eighth graders, who allowed just two points in each of the final two quarters. Hannah Ainsworth followed with nine points, Rachelle Jackson had eight and Emily Devoe scored seven.
Katie Aker finished with 13 points for the East Jay seventh grade team, which trailed by eight at halftime and could not recover. Alex Loy added six points.
Chiefs pull even
Jalen Ryder and Zach Pryor led East Jay Middle School's sixth grade boys basketball team as it defeated West Jay 28-23 Monday.
Ryder had eight points for the Chiefs, who evened their record at 4-4. Pryor totaled five points.
West Jay is 2nd
The West Jay Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team finished as the runner-up Saturday at the East Jay/Boomer Basketball Invitational.
The Eagles defeated Richmond 30-27 in the opening round before falling to the host Chiefs 39-23 in the championship.
Tyler Back scored 13 points and Jason Farmer had 10 in the opening win over Richmond. Farmer and Chase Louck combined to go 6-for-6 at the foul line in the final 1:30 to seal the win.
Blake Crouch had seven points in the championship game for West Jay, which finished at 10-7. Three of those losses came against the undefeated EJMS squad.[[In-content Ad]]
