East Jay Middle School's wrestling team came out on top of a couple of matches Monday night.
The Chiefs opened with a 90-6 win over Monroe Central, winning three of the four contested matches. They topped West Jay 72-19 in the varsity match and 42-6 in junior varsity.
Braden Smith-Lykins (85) and Lucas Boyer (225) led East Jay, each scoring victories in both matches. Boyer won in 26 seconds against Monroe Central and 1:51 versus the Eagles while Smith-Lykins scored his pins in 55 seconds and 2:28 respectively.
All of the Chiefs' victories on the evening came by pin, with Conner Ray (80) picking up the third win against Monroe Central. Pins against West Jay came from Brandon Poore (105), Austin Bentz (115), Nick Leonhard (125), Eric Beougher (145), Cody Bellis (152) and Nathan Frisch (160).
Jesse Finnerty led West Jay with a pin in 1:32 in the 90-pound match. Cory Green (100) scored a 5-4 victory, and Carrolton Fischer (110) turned in a 12-5 decision.
