Energize-ECI is partnering with the National Association of Japan-America Societies and the Japan-America Society of Indiana to host a business breakfast presentation.
The meal and presentation will be held from 8 to 10 a.m.on Friday, Oct. 19, at Cardinal Hall in the Student Center at Ball State University, 2000 University Ave., Muncie.
Speakers at the event include representatives from the embassy of Japan and other strategic business planners. The topic of discussion will examine future business relationships between the United States, Japan and China.
Energize-ECI is a public/private partnership providing services to encourage economic development in East Central Indiana.
It provides support and services in Jay, Blackford, Delaware, Grant, Henry, Randolph, Rush and Wayne counties and the city of Anderson.
New Branch
First Merchants Bank opened a western Delaware County branch on Monday. It is located at Nebo Road and Jackson Street in Yorktown.
Brian Haughn of Anderson has been selected as manager of the Nebo Road bank.
The financial facility will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. On Fridays it will conduct business from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with 9 a.m. to noon hours on Saturday.
The drive-up window will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
New stylist/graduate
A Portland woman has recently graduated from PJ's College of Cosmetology and taken a job with a local salon.
Christina Marie Cherish Bishop, a 2006 Jay County High School graduate, is employed at Inspirations, 1309 N. Meridian St., suite one, Portland.
Quality meeting
The American Society for Quality branch in East Central Indiana will have dinner meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
It will be held at the Sirloin Stockade near McGalliard and Morrison roads in Muncie. The night's featured speaker will be Allen Fuller.
Fuller is a metrology technician for Bullen Semiconductors in Eaton, Ohio. He has been a member of the quality field for 13 years.
