Errors hurt FR versus Roughriders

ST. MARYS, Ohio - The Fort Recovery High School softball team went scoreless after the first inning Monday in a 10-2 loss to the host Memorial Roughriders.

The Indians (4-2) put up two runs in the top of the first inning and carried a 2-1 lead into the third before Memorial's offense got rolling with the help of some Tribe miscues. The Roughriders scored four times in the third inning, three in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Seven of Memorial's runs were unearned as Fort Recovery committed five errors.

Andi Sutter took the loss despite giving up just four hits. She struck out four and did not walk a batter.

Kendra Brunswick led the Tribe offense with a double, a run and an RBI. Shelby Brunswick had a triple and an RBI, and Olivia Thien doubled and scored a run.

Knights trounce SA

OSSIAN - The host Norwell Knights scored in all six innings Monday as they topped the South Adams baseball team 13-3.

Andrew Wanner started and took the loss for the Starfires, giving up five runs - four earned - on two hits and four walks in 1 2/3 innings. Norwell had a 5-1 lead after two innings and finished off the game early with four runs in the bottom of the sixth.

John Striker, Gabe Sprunger and Caleb Sprunger all scored a run for the Starfires, and Dustin Wanner had the team's lone RBI.

Tribe JV stumbles

FORT RECOVERY - Fort Recovery's junior varsity softball team traded the lead four times with the St. Mary's roughriders Monday in a 10-8 defeat.

The Indians led 3-1 after four innings, but gave up six runs in the fifth and three in the seventh in the defeat. Becca Tobe took the loss, allowing 10 runs on five hits and five walks.

Brittany Sudhoff had three hits, including two doubles, and two runs. Tobe added two hits, two runs and an RBI, and Taylor Guggenbiller smacked three doubles.[[In-content Ad]]
