The World’s Fair of Quilts will be held in Chicago this year and the Swiss Stitchers Quilt Guild has chartered a bus to attend on Saturday, March 27.
The Guild is offering the trip for $37, which includes transportation and admission to the show. Individuals are responsible for all other expenses. The bus will leave Berne at 5 a.m. and stop again in Decatur at approximately 5:20 a.m.
Some of the special exhibits that will be featured at the show are the Hoffman Challenge; Antique Quilts from the International Quilt Festival Collection; Traditional Treasures; and Kansas Art Quilts.
There will be approximately 400 vendors including a Learn-to-Quilt booth.

Minnetrista Cultural Center, Muncie, is hosting the following workshops and exhibits in the following months.
•Water Wonders: Hydroponics Growing — Friday, Feb. 20, 1-3 p.m. — Families can learn to grow plants indoors as “starts” for outdoor summer gardens, or to keep for an indoor garden. Cost is $5.
•Tour of Ball-related Sites in Muncie — Saturday, Feb. 21, 1-4 p.m. — The tour will visit Ball family and company related sites throughout Muncie. Cost is $10 per person.
•Maple Syrup Workshop — Saturday, Feb. 21, 2-4 p.m. — Families can learn how to tap maple trees and about the process of turning the simple sap into syrup. Cost is $5 per person.
•East Central Indiana Glass Production — Friday, Feb. 27, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — A tour of the glass manufacturing-related sites, including the Glass Museum in Dunkirk. Cost is $20 per person. Bring a sack lunch.
•We’ve Come This Far By Faith: The African-American Contribution — Now through Feb. 29 — An art and poster exhibit that highlights the African-American history. Posters depict five eras: American Revolution; Civil War; slavery; Reconstruction; and civil rights. Notable African-Americans are featured as well. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
•Building Bluebird Boxes — Saturday, March 13, 9 a.m. to noon — Families are invited to help build nest boxes for bluebirds returning to the area. Cost is $15 per family (includes one box).

The Wapehani Girl Scout Council is hosting a Studio 2B shopping event on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Muncie Mall from 1-4 p.m.
Studio 2B is a new program developed exclusively by girls, for girls with the ideas to Become, Belong, Believe and Build. The shopping trip is a day of fun while learning to shop for the best buy and how to get the most for your money. These ideas are also contest categories along with prettiest and ugliest items purchased. Peers will be judges and prizes will be awarded.
Anyone interested can meet in front of Elder-Beerman at 1 p.m. Cost to participate is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.

TEACHING CONFERENCE
A teaching conference on Ethics and the Academy will be held Friday, Feb. 20 in the Walb Memorial Union of Indiana University Purdue University, Fort Wayne.
The conference, which is sponsored by area colleges and universities, is open to faculty of colleges and universities.
