Events to take place at Jay County Public Library
Taking Note
Two expert crocheters will have an instructional session on Sept. 6, at Jay County Public Library, 315 N. Ship St. in Portland.
The basics of crochet will be taught and supplies will be provided. To register by Sept. 2, call the library at (260) 726-7890.
Also a crochet club will begin Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the library. Anyone interested should bring supplies to the session, which will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The next meeting will be Oct. 18.
Cook Book Club
The Cook Book Club at JCPL will present “A Taste of Germany” on Monday, Sept. 12, at 6:15 p.m. in the Community Room.
Gisela LeMaster, a retired librarian, will host the evening with her aunts Vera Heffner and Ilona Beck.
Visitors are asked to bring their own table service and make a small donation to help the hosts with the cost of food.

Board game night will be Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the library.

A program on tombstone preservation will be held Thursday, Sept. 15, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Liber Cemetery.
Travis Caldwell, of Pioneer Cemetery Preservation, will also discuss the history of the cemetery.
