Fashion review planned
Taking Note
The annual Showcase of Fashions will be held Tuesday, July 22, at 4 p.m. in the Jay County Courthouse Auditorium following the 4-H fashion show judging.
Categories are as follows: Family outfits; Dresses; Coat or Suit; Separates; My Choice; Sewing for Others/Children; Sewing for Others/Teen; Wedding Gowns Only; Decorated Purchased Garment.
Rules and divisions can be obtained through the Jay County Extension Office located on West Arch Street in Portland. Entry deadline is Tuesday, July 15.
LIBRARY HAPPENINGS
There are several programs taking place this month at the Jay County Public Library.
• At the Beach Story Time, Thursday, July 10, for children up to third grade. All attending must be accompianied by an adult.
• Summer Reading Program ends on Saturday, July 12, at 5 p.m. All entries must be logged by 5 p.m. No exceptions.
• Pool party for the SRP participants who met their goal is Saturday, July 19, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Portland Pool. Parents are invited to attend. Advance registration is requested so an adequate number of hot dogs will be available.
• A pizza party for all teens successfully reaching their goal will be held Tuesday, July 22, from 7-8 p.m. Advance registration is appreciated.

Christopher R. Knoth, son of Richard and Priscilla Knoth, Bryant, has been named to the dean’s list at Purdue University.
BAKE OFF
The Swiss Heritage Days Bake Off Contest will be held Friday, July 25, at the Swiss Heritage Museum, 1200 Swiss Way, Berne.
Categories are, Cookies, Pies and Cakes. Each category has two subdivisions. Brochures with entry rules may be picked up at the Berne Chamber of Commerce, 175 W. Main St., Berne, at all branches of the First Bank of Berne, or at Swiss Heritage Museum.
