FBB donates to Swiss Heritage Society (6/14/03)
Business Roundup
First Bank of Berne has donated $15,000 to Swiss Heritage Society’s Campaign for the Twenty-First Century.
“We are pleased to be a contributor to such a special campaign,” bank president Charles Isch said in a recent press release. “Conserving the Swiss heritage of our community is very important to us. We are so proud of the background and history of Berne.”
Society president John Minch said that the bank’s gift will help the society reach its goals.
“Every year the operating expenses, cost of preserving our history buildings, and the museum exhibits have increased,” he said in the release. “Gifts such as this help us to meet our annual expenses and also build our endowment.”
Since January, the ongoing campaign for the Twenty-First Century has raised a total of $45,000. All contributions to the society are tax deductible and are welcomed.

SPRINT MAKES CUTS
Sprint Corp. will record second-quarter charges relating to the winding down of its web hosting business and severance agreements, The Wall Street Journal reported this week. This will result in the loss of 500 jobs, or less than 1 percent of its entire work force.
Sprint said it will record a second-quarter pretax charge of $300 million, or 20 cents a share, against its FON Group earnings related to the hosting business. The hosting actions are expected to result in a pretax charge of $400 million to $475 million.
ECOI TO MEET
East Central Opportunities Inc. will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, June 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. at 201 E. Charles St., Muncie, in the training room.
Agenda items include — among other things — an update on health insurance, the corporate budget and the previously distributed ECIWIB independent staff update.
