Fiber Fest scheduled (03/04/08)
Taking Note
The Fiber Fest and Spin-In will be held at Jay County Fairgrounds on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The event will be devoted to the fiber arts and will include spinning, weaving and quilting demonstrations, sheep shearing, a dog herd demonstration, rabbits and lambs, rug hooking and basket weaving.
Classes will be held Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.; Friday is Educational Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with classes from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

February students
Students of the Month for February were recently chosen at West Jay Middle School. In sixth grade was Jordan Wood, the son of Jack and Teresa Wood. In seventh grade was Shelby Wendel, the son of Chad and Jennifer Wendel. In eighth grade was Dylan Friddle, the son of Ted and Brenda Friddle.
President's Challenge
The President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports is launching the first National President's Challenge. It is a six week physical activity challenge to encourage Americans to be more active and begins March 20.
To complete the challenge, adults 18 and older need to be active 30 minutes a day five days a week and youth ages six to 17 need to be active an hour a day five days a week.

Tractor show
The Fourteenth Annual Winter Tractor and Engine Show will be March 14, 15 and 16 at the Kruse International Auction Park in Auburn. The show will feature Fordson and Ford tractors and equipment.
