Finnerty, Weaver lead West Jay

GASTON — The West Jay volleyball teams took two of three matches from the Wes-Del Warriors on Tuesday, with the seventh and eighth graders bringing home victories.
The Eagles eighth graders defeated the Warriors 25-8, 20-25, 15-10. The West Jay seventh graders beat Wes-Del 25-8, 25-7, and the sixth graders fell to the Warriors 25-17, 25-7.
Kady Finnerty and Kaelyn Weaver led the eighth grade Eagles with eight service points, while Chloe Trissel had seven, Hanna Ault recorded five and Kimber Harris had four. Trissel also tallied a team-high eight kills.
For the seventh graders, Shelby Caldwell recorded 14 service points, while Kendal Garringer tallied nine and Randi Ferguson had seven. Kameron Edwards, Ault and Caldwell each added aces.
Halle Hill led the West Jay sixth graders with four service points in the loss. Calli Stigleman had two points, and Allison Jobe added one.

Winchester downs EJ
WINCHESTER — The Winchester Driver Hawks defeated the East Jay eighth grade volleyball team Tuesday, 25-17, 25-24.
Briana Muhlenkamp led the Chiefs with six service points. Irene Braun recorded five points and three aces, while Lucy Laux tallied four points, two aces and one dig.
Kaylee Inman added four points, three aces and one kill for the Chiefs, who fell to 2-10 on the season.


Wilson downs East Jay
The Muncie Wilson Panthers seventh grade football team defeated the East Jay Chiefs on Tuesday, 32-14.
Daniel Ostrowski led the Chiefs with 50 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Issac Moeller added 20 yards on the ground and added a two-point conversion.
Michael Schlechty, Ethan Huntsman, Thomas Hemmelgarn and Dawson Frasher had tackles for a loss, and Xavier Ninde had an interception.

East Jay beats Driver
WINCHESTER — The East Jay seventh grade volleyball team defeated Winchester Driver on Tuesday, 25-16, 25-17.
Gwen Omstead led the Chiefs with four kills, a pair of aces and a pair of blocks for East Jay.
Sarah Walter added four aces, one kill and one block, while Hanna Dillon recorded three aces, two digs and one kill.[[In-content Ad]]
