Fisher wins award for cured meats

Fisher Packing Co. won national recognition at the American Cured meat Championships held June 16-18, 2011 in Reno, Nev. during the 72nd Convention of the American Association of Meat Processors.
Fisher Packing won first place in the emulsified frankfurters class, second place in the braunschweiger class and third place in the ring bologna class.
There were 536 entries and 26 product categories in the competition.
The Portland company also has a retail location in Muncie.

Scholarship announced
R&R Medical Staffing is awarding a complete scholarship for the 2011 Certified nursing assistant class.
Consideration for the winner will be upon financial need, future career goals in the medical field, application, interview and professional references. Applicants must also be accepted into the program and pass its guidelines. Applications will be accepted from July 11 through July 15. The recipient will be selected between July 18 and July 22.
