Fisher Meats recently opened a new location in Muncie.
The meat market, owned by brother Greg, Michael and Dan Fisher, opened at 2800 N. Walnut St. in Muncie, just south of McGalliard Road. The 5,400 square-foot building will offer its fresh cut meat and specialty items.
The store is the first expansion of Fisher's, which has operated a branch on West Walnut Street in Portland since 1945.
Fifth year for
program
A Swiss Village wellness program reached the five-year mark with 41 residents continuing participation since the program began in 2004.
Daryl Martin, executive director of Swiss Village, said the Wellness Center developed out of a desire to be proactive in helping the residents engage in wellness activities and that changes are made frequently to better incorporate all dimensions of wellness.
Residents take part in classes on the Swiss Village's north campus for a senior hour 9-10 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Gloria Muselman Wellness Pavilion. They can also utilize the pavilion any time it is open.
The program offers yoga and classes incorporating balance, use of cardiovascular machines and strength training. It also offers an Annual Wellness Fair, a six-month long walking program and quarterly education sessions.
New tech manager
DRG, the Berne-based publisher of special-interest magazines and books, with divisions in publishing and fulfillment, has announced it hired Robert Grabowski Jr. as the company's information technology manager.
Grabowski has more than 20 years of experience as a professional manager; most recently he was senior telecommunications manager for Essex Group Inc. of Fort Wayne. Prior to that he was director of communications at Midwest Truck Center Inc. of Fort Wayne and served in the United States Navy.
He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Indiana Institute of Technology and master's degrees in business administration and management from Indiana Institute of Technology.
Building report issued
The total estimated value of construction in the rural areas of Adams County and in Monroe and Geneva during May improved over April's numbers, aided by a large home-building project and a major house-renovation project.
Last month's total of more than $1.7 million is the largest of any month this year, according to a report to the commissioners by county building and zoning superintendent Neil Ogg.
Permits for 34 buildings in May were divided as follows:
$880,000 for two single-family homes
$357,800 for 11 home additions
$284,800 for 12 sheds, garages, etc.
$171,000 for six agricultural buildings
$8,000 for a church addition
$3,600 for two swimming pools
Also granted were eight permits for electrical improvements and six permits for remodeling during May, Ogg said.
Bluffton steakhouse opens
The Market Street Steakhouse, 229 W. Market St., downtown Bluffton, started business Tuesday afternoon with the promise of an "upscale casual" experience. Jim Purvis is the owner and Scott Herndon is the restaurant manager.
The building was most recently home to Mother's restaurant, which closed earlier this year, and can now seat 62 to 66 people in the dining room.
Hours are 4 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, closed Monday.
The restaurant offers 10 meals under $10 and is applying for a beer and wine license. Children can eat free with their parents on Tuesday and Sunday.

The Bank of Geneva was selected as one of 29 banking institutions to be awarded as a Five Star Member of Indiana Bankers Association.
Five Star members are honored annually as institutions that demonstrate exemplary commitment to the IBA in the areas of political awareness, issue advocacy, life-long learning volunteerism and community involvement.
Bank of Geneva has branches in Berne, Monroe and Portland and is actively promoting each of those communities.
Currently the Bank of Geneva is working to the complete historic renovation of a building in downtown Geneva and invested $5,000 in the Berne Chamber of Commerce.
Redkey detective

Rob Ricks, a Redkey detective for the past 15 years, has been promoted to sergeant and will serve as investigative squad leader for the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigative Division at the Redkey District.
Ricks was assigned to the Indiana State Police Lowell District after graduating from state police recruit school in 1980 and transferred to the Redkey District in 1981. He has served as trooper, drug interdiction officer, field training officer and most recently detective.
His new duties as sergeant will be supervising a squad of detectives at the Redkey District, which serves Blackford, Delaware, Grant, Jay and Randolph counties.

The Decatur Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Decatur Daily Democrat and the Small Business Development Cente (SBDC) will present a seminar titled "Marketing Your Business in a Weak Economy."
Scot J. Goskowicz, business adviser for the SBDC, will present the session, which organizers said is designed for small business owners and leaders to learn how to better promote their businesses during an economic slowdown.
The seminar will be presented from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Decatur Room at Adams Memorial Hospital. Admission is free and light refreshments will be provided.
