Five file for election
Five more candidates filed for candidacy since Monday morning — including a candidate for mayor of Dunkirk.
Daniel W. Watson (D), 277 E. Commerce St., Dunkirk, filed to run for the mayor’s position. Watson announced his intent to challenge incumbent mayor Ron Hunt, who intends to seek re-election. Watson is a former city councilman and currently serves as county engineer.
Michelle R. “Mickey” Pensinger (R), 1105 W. Main St., Portland, filed for Portland clerk-treasurer. Pensinger resigned from her position as Portland City Court judge in late 2010 and said she would run for the position.
Three Portland city councilman also are seeking re-election. Bill Gibson (R-District 1), 216 W. McNeil St., Portland; Kent McClung (R-District 5), 960 S. Meridian St., Portland; and Dan “Kip” Robinette (R-At Large), 120 Bittersweet Lane,Portland, filed.
A challenger for the Portland City Council District 2 seat, Ralph Lloyd Claytor Jr. (R), 911 W. Walnut St., Portland, filed for the seat currently held by Todd Nichols. Nichols, a Republican, has not indicated whether he will seek another term.[[In-content Ad]]
