MONROE — What a day for the Starfire wrestlers.
South Adams’ middle school wrestling team put wrestlers in championship matches in more than half of the weight classes. And the Starfires won half of those 10 battles, finishing with five champions and five runners-up at the Allen County Athletic Conference Championships at Adams Central Saturday.
Stuart Poulson was dominant in his finale, finishing off the 110-pound title match in 14 seconds. Braden Baer (115) and Jimmy West (HWT) won by 6-0 decisions, and Josh Ehr (95) took his championship match 6-2.
Gabe Sprunger won a nail-biter in the 80-pound final 4-2 in overtime. Adding runner-up efforts were Todd Batt (75), Dustin Wanner (85), Jordan Landers (90), Dusty Hunt (115) and John Striker (115).
Jay 4th victorious
HARTFORD CITY — Jay County’s fourth grade AAU boys basketball team won the Blackford Thunder Tourney this weekend.
The squad defeated teams from Blackford and Adams Central in the championship round. Team members are Kalib Allen, Drue Armstrong, Austin Butcher, Zach Fullenkamp, Preston Keen, Toby McCallister, Collin Saxman, Jake Schlosser, Kyle Selvey, Zane Shreve and Brody Speed.

DECATUR — The Jay County Blue Jay wrestling club competed in the Bellmont Folkstyle tournament March 5, winning three championships.
Finishing in first place for the Jay County team were Lucas Boyer, David Anderson and Reese Bowen. Ben Atrim and Kyle Garringer added second-place efforts, and Kane Brady, Brandon Poore and Logan Antrim each finished in third.[[In-content Ad]]
