Ford earns chamber award (11/13/04)

Lawmakers from Hartford City and Evansville were recently named 2004 Government Leaders of the Year by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.
Republican Sen. David Ford of Hartford City, who represents District 19, and Democrat State Rep. Brian Hasler of Evansville were chosen for the honor.
Ford, whose district formerly included a portion of Jay County, was chosen for the same honor in 1994. His district includes all or portions of Adams, Blackford, Wells and Adams counties.
NILL ACCEPTED
Jay County REMC president and chief executive officer John Nill of Portland, has been accepted as a member of the Indiana Certified Public Accountants Society.
The organization works as an advocate for the profession through education, public awareness, government relations and promotion of high ethical standards. The group also provides programs and services to meet the needs of its members.
HONORED
K & L Tractor Sales, Inc., Fort Recovery, has been awarded the 2004 President’s Prestige Award by New Holland.
This is the highest honor a New Holland dealership can attain.
It recognizes outstanding achievement in business management and customer satisfaction. K & L was given the award for having one of the highest scores in the New Holland Dealer Standards Program.
GRADUATED
A First Bank of Berne employee recently graduated from the American Bankers Association National Commercial Lending School in Dallas, Texas.
Loan officer Joe Caffee, rural Geneva, has been employed by the Berne bank for two years. He is a graduate of South Adams High School and Purdue University.
Students are nominated by a senior officer at their institution to attend the seven-day session, which includes a comprehensive bank loan simulation.
RESERVATIONS
Geneva Town Hall is accepting reservations for the community room for private holiday parties and business meetings.
The room will seat up to 150 people, has a new kitchen, an elevator and stairs for access, a new sound system, a piano and much more.

Dynamic Resource Group has hired a public relations coordinator.
Nancy Brown of Convoy, Ohio, was chosen for the position.
Brown will develop public relations strategies for all of the company’s operations.
DRG owns the publishing company House of White Birches, Berne, and several other companies.
CERTIFIED
Blackford Community Hospital was certified this week by the Indiana State Emergency Medical Service Commission to begin a paramedic ambulance service.
This allows paramedics to stabilize patients sooner and treat them on the way to the hospital.
Three full-time paramedics have been hired to work 24-hour rotations and follow ambulances.

The newest historical wooden plaque in a series offered by Fort Recovery Psi Iota Xi Sorority is now available.
The new plaque — the Fort Recovery Visitors Center — is the seventh in the series, which also features the fort, museum, monument, Fort Recovery Bank, opera house and Forget-Me-Not Florist.
