Jack Gilhooly, a former Portland resident and editor of The Commercial Review, has published a book under the pen name John Westin.

“The Anchor War” focuses on a three-way battle for a $2.5 million-a-year television anchor job at the same time the first Iraq war began in 1991.

Gilhooly was an editor at The Commercial Review in the late 1960s and later worked in reporting and editing capacities at other newspapers across the country. Currently he is a full-time writer residing in Peoria, Ill.

“The Anchor War” can be ordered through bookstores or purchased from major book chains’ web sites.

PENNVILLE FEED HONORED

Pennville Feed Service qualified recently as a Crystalyx “Four Star” Dealer. This qualification recognizes Pennville Feed for sales excellence and outstanding customer service.

Crystalyx dealers earn this designation by meeting five requirements that focus on employee training, customer service, product inventory, feeder meetings and Crystalyx merchandising.

The Pennville business is co-owned by Alan and Becky Peterson of rural Dunkirk and Mike and Sharon Roessner of Fort Recovery. They have owned and operated the business, located at 150 W. North St., since early 1992.

PMM SELECTED

St. Joseph Hospital & Health Center of Kokomo has contracted with Preferred Medical Management to manage its urgent and occupational health center in Kokomo.

Med One is a full-service immediate care center that offers x-ray, lab and extended hours seven days per week. PMM has been contracted to integrate Med One into St. Joseph’s three-practice network, that includes family practice, specialty practice and pediatric practice.

PMM has been managing this health care network since January of 2001.

OPERATION SALUTE

Anheuser-Busch recently announced it will give free single-day admission to its SeaWorld, Busch Gardens and Sesame Place parks to active duty military, active reservists, U.S. Coast Guard, National Guardsmen and up to four of their direct dependents now through Veterans Day on Nov. 11.

This offer also has been extended to all coalition forces serving with U.S. troops in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

“Operation Salute” will give free admission at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Busch gardens Williamsburg, SeaWorld Orlando, SeaWorld San Diego, SeaWorld San Antonio and Sesame Place in Langhorne, Pa.

“We wanted to express our deep gratitude for their service, and this gives those who serve and their families some needed relaxation and enjoyment,” said Patrick Stokes, president and chief executive officer of Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc.

Free admission will be granted at any of these parks by showing military identification, Jay Miller of Jay County Beverage Inc. in Portland said Friday afternoon.[[In-content Ad]]
