Former prof to speak at museum (05/22/07)

Taking note

Elizabeth Glenn, PhD and a former professor at Ball State University for 30 years, will speak tonight in Portland.

She will talk about Francis Godfroy, chief of the Miami Indians of the Jay County Godfroy Reserve, which was located in Jay and Blackford Counties.

The program will be held at 7 p.m. at the Jay County Historical Museum, 903 E. Main St.

Pie making

The Jay County Public Library will feature pie making with Linda Frantz as part of the hands-on program series.

The program will be Tuesday, June 5, at 6:30 p.m. Participants will mix, roll and taste during the program. Bring a rolling pin. To register, call the library at (260) 726-7890. There is a $3 food fee.

Dean's list

The dean's list for the spring semester at Wabash College in Crawsfordsville has recently been announced.

Making the list from Jay County was David Johnston, a junior and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Johnston.

Joshua Eal, also a junior and the son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Eal, Portland.

Cody Grady, a freshman, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Grady, Redkey.

Farmers market

Minnetrista Farmers Market will be held on Saturdays beginning June 2 from 8 a.m. until noon, and continue through Oct. 27.

A farmers market will also be held each Wednesday, beginning June 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. and continuing through Oct. 27.

The markets will be held at Minnetrista Cultural Center in Muncie.

Free family fun and entertainment will begin Saturday, June 2 at Minnetrista. Radio Disney featuring Jordan Pruitt will begin at 7:30 p.m.
