Fort FFA teams place in contest
Taking Note
The Fort Recovery FFA senior parliamentary procedure team recently placed second in the sub-district contest held at Marion Local High School and fourth in the district contest held at St. Marys High School.
Team members include Michelle Brackman, Nathan Fortkamp, Caitlin Gehret, Zach Guggenbiller, Nicole Hart, Andrea Lennartz, Natalie Lennartz and Stacy Will.
The junior parliamentary procedure team members demonstrated how to conduct a meeting and receive a GOLD rating in the sub-district contest.
Junior team members include Samantha Florence, Courtney Gladdish, Jacqui Kremer, Jenna Lennartz, Mitch Lennartz, Nick Rammel and Kaleb Timmerman.
Board of directors
The Jay County Fair Association elected its board of directors for the next three years at its annual shareholder meeting.
Elected were Tom Zimmerman — president, Rob Weaver — vice president, Ron Krieg — treasurer, and Trent Paxson — secretary.
Library news
Jay County Public Library will offer downloadable media in the first quarter of 2011 through the Evergreen Indiana Consortium. The consortium uses material distributed by OverDrive, but several other devices will work. Material will be downloadable on library patrons’ home computers.

Two East Jay Middle School eighth grade students were winners in the Dick Lugar/Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Companies Youth Essay contest for their essays entitled “Agriculture: Then and Now.”
Catherine Dunn, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Dunn II.
Brandon Muhlenkamp, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Muhlenkamp.
Dean’s list
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute announced area students who made the dean’s list for the fall quarter.
Jacob Schmidt, the son of Gary and Diane Schmidt of Portland. He is a junior majoring in computer science.
Clayton Eley, the son of Todd and Paula Eley of Portland. He is a junior majoring in mechanical engineering.[[In-content Ad]]
