Fort girls place 8th

COLDWATER, Ohio - No Tribe runners finished in the top 30 Thursday as the Fort Recovery High School girls cross country team finished eighth out of 18 teams at the Coldwater Lions Club Invitational. The Indian boys team was 17th out of 24.
Marissa Brunswick had the top time for the FRHS girls, finishing 33rd in 21 minutes, 22 seconds. Alexis Sutter was 42nd in 21:37, five seconds ahead of teammate Casey Backs (43rd). Nicole Heitkamp was 51st in 22:02, and Samantha Tobe placed 57th at 22:14.
Ryan Heitkamp led the Tribe boys in 61st at 18:35 with Nathan Fullenkamp 62nd in 18:36 and Calvin Kaiser 64th with a time of 18:37. Marshal Hull (180th - 21:08) and Zach Guggenbiller (191st - 21:25) rounded out the team score.
In the middle school race Josh Pohl led the Indian boys to a fourth-place finish out of 17 teams. The girls were 10th out of 16.
Pohl posted a time of 11:22 to finish fourth out of 164 runners. He was less than three seconds off the winning pace.
Derek Sutter finished 12th in 11:53 ahead of Joe Gonzalez (30th - 12:34), Grant Hull (59th - 13:15) and Isaac Keller (61st - 13:15).
Jessica Vogel finished in 13:09 to lead the Tribe girls in 15th place. Sam Kaiser was 78th in 14:47 followed by Cassie Gray (80th - 14:51), Janel Heitkamp (103rd - 14:51) and Hannah Bihn (127th - 16:02).
Tribe freshmen fall
FORT RECOVERY - The St. Henry Redskins knocked off the Fort Recovery freshman volleyball team 25-11, 25-21 Thursday.
Emily Link had 10 digs and three assists as the Indians fell to 10-6. Chelsea Pottkotter totaled six points and two kills, Amy Link had four points and two kills and Heather Vaughn finished with 21 digs.
Tribe football loses
VERSAILLES, Ohio - Fort Recovery's seventh grade football team fell 20-12 Thursday to the Versailles Tigers and the eighth graders (1-4) lost 38-0.
Cole Hull scored both touchdowns for the seventh grade Indians (4-2), who trailed 14-0 at halftime. He had a 40-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter and added a 10-yard scoring run in the fourth.
Shane wins title
WOODBURN - Brody Shane won the Allen County Athletic Conference individual boys cross country championship Thursday at the meet hosted by Woodlan.
The Starfire boys finished in third place. The girls team placed fifth.
FR volleyball loses
FORT RECOVERY - The Fort Recovery eighth grade volleyball team lost 25-14, 25-12 Thursday to the Marion Local Flyers, and the seventh graders fell 25-7, 25-16.
Sierra Pugh had two points, one kill, one assist and one dig for the eighth graders (0-12). Sam Florence scored four points, Morgan Dues had three assists and Lexi Schmitz added two kills and two points.
Tori Lennartz led the seventh grade Indians (3-12) with two digs, one kill and one assist. Cassidy Rammel and Karla Eichenauer each scored two points.[[In-content Ad]]
