CRAFT DAY
Jay County Extension Homemakers will host their annual Craft Day workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the 4-H building at the Jay County Fairgrounds.
There will be 14 crafters teaching make-it and take-it crafts, such as scrapbooking, ceramics, wood items, homemade soap gifts and fall and Christmas items. There will also be a few holiday crafts for kids.
The Country Store will feature handmade art and crafts and homemade goodies made by the Extension Homemakers Clubs, and door prizes will be given throughout the day. A lunch will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Admission is free, but their will be a fee for craft supplies used.

PHOTO CONTEST
The Jay County Public Library is pleased to announce the fifth annual Get Caught Reading Photo Contest. Entrants are asked to plan a photograph showing someone getting caught reading in an unusual or amusing manner. Examples of past winners were a girl reading on her horse, a toddler sprawled across a chair reading a magazine and a costumed “Dorothy” reading The Wizard of Oz.
There are four age categories, including 6-10-year-olds, 11-14-year-olds, 15-18-year-olds years and 18-and-older. The photographs must be at least three by five inches and no larger than eight by ten inches and they must be matted or framed. Complete rules are available at the library.
Entries must be submitted between 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8, and 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at the library. Questions should be directed to Linda Shreve, Youth Services Librarian, at (260) 726-7890.
ADOPTION MONTH
In celebration of National Adoption Month in November the Independent Adoption Center will hold an adoption information session on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the IAC office, 5224 South East St., Building C, Suite 10, Indianapolis.
