CELINA — Four members of the Fort Recovery baseball team were honored by the Midwest Athletic Conference Wednesday.
Senior Todd Post led the group as he was named to the All-MAC first team. He has a 1.39 ERA and has struck out 34 batters in 351/3 innings. He is also second on the team in hits (21) and RBIs (14), and has a .318 average.
Freshman Bobby Rammel was a second-team selection. He is hitting .302 on the year and is 2-0 with a 1.88 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 221/3 innings.
Senior Matt Hein and freshman Clint Tobe earned All-MAC honorable mention.
Norwell tops SA baseball
BERNE — The Norwell Knights pounced on the South Adams baseball team in their first at bat and the Starfires never led in a 9-4 loss Wednesday.
Norwell scored two runs in the first inning and four more in the second for a 6-0 lead. South Adams cut the deficit in half, but the Knights posted three more runs in the fourth to take control for good.
Peter Jansson gave up nine runs — five earned — on four hits in 32/3 innings to take the loss. Austin Givens tossed 31/3 scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit.
Justin Caffee accounted for most of the South Adams offense, including a home run and a triple for two of the team’s three hits. He scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.[[In-content Ad]]
