UNION CITY — The Indians from Ohio were too much for the Tribe from Indiana.

Fort Recovery’s baseball team jumped on the Union City Indians with three runs in the first inning Thursday. It scored six more in the second and fourth innings for a dominating 15-0, five-inning victory.

Tony Diller and Clint Tobe led the offensive onslaught for the visiting Indians (2-1), each finishing with two hits and two runs. Diller had a double, a walk and an RBI, and Tobe notched two RBIs and a stolen base.

Chris Galdeen also had two hits, Troy Metzger and Michael Trobridge each scored twice and Brad Fortkamp and Kevin Schoenherr each drove in two runs.

Bobby Rammel picked up the win in his first start of the year. He allowed just one hit and four walks while striking out 12.

Wildcats wallop FR

FORT RECOVERY — Errors crushed Fort Recovery’s junior varsity softball team Thursday as it dropped its season opener 12-2 in five innings to the Minster Wildcats.

The Indians committed six errors as nine of Minster’s runs were unearned. Heidi Tobe suffered the defeat as she walked seven and struck out two.

Kelly Thien finished 2-for-2 with a double and a run for the Tribe, and Ashley Grube added an RBI double. Leanne Tobin drove in a run, and Heather Schmackers scored once.[[In-content Ad]]
